Help quitting opioids
Medication-assisted treatment is the use of prescribed medications, in combination with counseling, to treat opioid use disorder. Services include counseling, case management and referrals to help with lifestyle changes. Texas residents 18 and older with moderate to severe opioid use disorder for at least 12 months in a row may be eligible.

An LCDC is authorized to provide chemical dependency counseling services involving the application of the principles, methods, and procedures of the chemical dependency profession as defined by the profession's ethical standards and the KSAs.
Counseling for help quitting drugs
A person may not engage in the practice of chemical dependency counseling unless the person is licensed as a chemical dependency counselor under Texas Occupations Code Chapter 504. Unless a person is engaged in the practice of chemical dependency counseling in accordance with that chapter, the person may not use the term licensed chemical dependency counselor, the abbreviation LCDC, or any combination or variation of that term or abbreviation in connection with the person's practice.

Recovery support services is an evidence-based practice funded through SAMHSA that supports services to increase long-term recovery and recovery quality. Services are provided by peer specialists. Peer specialists help initiate services like counseling, sober housing, transportation and medications. Peers provide support before, during and after treatment. People with a history of alcohol or drug problems, including co-occurring mental health disorders, who are in or seeking recovery, along with their family members and significant others, are eligible. A person may request help by contacting 211 Texas or calling 877-541-7905. For immediate and confidential help, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, call the OSAR in the region.
